MTA Hero stops beggar from scamming and bullying passengers

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — This week’s MTA Hero helped keep subway customers from being bullied and ripped off.

Station supervisor Sabuj Shill didn’t hesitate when he saw something fishy.

He was working at the 23rd Street F station when he saw a beggar holding the door open and instructing people to pass.

He called the MetroCard Fraud Task Force and it eventually led to the beggar’s arrest.

The MTA says Shill’s actions went beyond his day-to-day duties.

The NYC Pride March special, co-hosted by Angelica Ross with WABC’s Ken Rosato, Lauren Glassberg and Sam Champion, will return for its sixth consecutive year on ABC 7 from 12:00-3:00 PM ET on Sunday, June 26 also on abc7NY.com , ABC News Live and ABC7 New York connected TV apps on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku streaming platforms.
