Ninth consecutive draft with at least five selections – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio –The 2022 NFL Draft ended early Saturday night, but not before two more Ohio State Buckeyes were selected, bringing the program’s total to six selections in that draft. This is the ninth straight draft in which Ohio State has at least five players drafted.

A true senior and 41-game veteran, Tyreke Smith was the fifth Buckeye drafted this year, advancing to the fifth round with the 158th overall pick, against the Seattle Seahawks.

And selected in the seventh round was All-American offensive lineman and 45-game starter Thayer Munford, who went to the Las Vegas Raiders with the 238th overall pick.

  • Tyreke Smith played 41 games for the Buckeyes and started 17 times between 2018 and 2021
  • Was part of three consecutive Big Ten championship teams and two Ohio State teams that qualified for the college football playoffs, including the title game in 2021
  • Recorded 55 career tackles with 11 tackles for losses totaling 61 yards and seven quarterback sacks
